Hi! I’m Nate
I was born at an early age…
Wait… That’s probably not the type of “my story” you were looking for.
In Christian circles when someone asks for “your story,” and they might even use the word “testimony,” what they are probably looking for is how you came to know Christ as your Savior or when you dedicated your life to Christ.
I can tell you how I got saved. I can tell you how God lead me into vocational ministry. But those are not like so many “thrilling” testimonies you’ll hear at a campfire service at camp, or in an evangelistic meeting where people are brought to tears. People almost expect others to have a “Damascus Road” moment. I don’t.
I never had a “moment” where I “knew” God was calling me or that “God got a hold of my life.” What I did have were people; my parents, youth leaders, Sunday School teachers, camp counselors and ministry supervisors who God used to shape me and mold me little by little, step by step.
I’ve had a lot of jobs over the years too: Camp counselor/ program guy, Missionary, Camp Director, Youth Pastor, School teacher. All of these ministries had one thing in common. I was training the next generation to live out their faith and turn the world upside down. And that’s really what I’m all about.
So when I think about it, my testimony is pretty exciting! It’s exciting because it shows God’s grace and patience to take a kid and slowly, over the course of years, make Him into someone useful. And the best part is, He’s not done yet!
